- 1⁄2 lb bacon, cooked until crisp, drained and crumbled (pre-cooked weight)
- 1⁄2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1⁄2 cup flour
- 3⁄4 cup oats
- 2⁄3 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄4 cup butter, melted
- 4 -5 apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 1/4 inch thick pieces
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
directions
- In a medium bowl, mix bacon, cheese, flour, oats and 1/3 cup of the brown sugar. Thoroughly mix in melted butter.
- Place apple slices in a 1.5- to 2-quart casserole. Toss with lemon juice, cinnamon and remaining 1/3 cup brown sugar.
- Spread topping on apples.
- Bake at 375 for 40-50 minutes, or until apples are tender. Allow to cool for at least 20-30 minutes before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.
