Baked Beans With Bacon and Hot Dogs

"You may reduce or increase the amount of hot dogs if desired, I also like to add in some cayenne pepper, 3/4 cup of brown sugar will produce a sweet taste you may if you prefer a less sweeter taste then use 1/2 cup or adjust the amount to taste."

  1. I made this dish the other night and it was EXCELLENT! The only modification I made was to use only 1 can (28oz.) of baked beans because there is only two of us. I used all of the other ingredients and their amounts as written. This dish takes baked beans/hot dogs/bacon to a whole new level! It proves that with a little ingenuity, you can take a tired old recipe like beans and weenies and make it a taste like a much more expensive meal! Try this recipe, you will not be disappointed! Make it....take it....to your church supper, potluck, office party, whatever. You will soon tire of people saying, "This is amazing, please give me the recipe!" Thank you, Genius Kitchen! p.s. It is a very sweet dish, it did mention to check the brown sugar, use 1/2 cup, taste, then add another 1/4 cup if necessary. I used 3/4 without tasting (yeah, I know!) and it was very sweet. Next time I will use only 1/2 cup.

  2. DH was craving beanie-wienies and asked if I would make him some for dinner. I thought,"How boring-what would Kittencal do?" I did a quick search and found your recipe. YAY. Your recipes never disappoint. I used hickory smoked garlic (that I had already smoked in my stove-top smoker), and also added some thin sliced red/yellow/orange mini-sweet peppers to brown with the onions & bacon. I kept the specified amount of bacon and hot dogs, but halved the rest of the recipe for the two of us, with plenty for left-over lunches. DH is a very happy man to have smokey gourmet beanie-wienies. Thanks for another winner, Kitten!

  3. This was another winner; but it is Kittencal's recipe and they are all great. I prepared as posted but backed off on the brown sugar to a little more than 3/4 cup and that to me turned out perfect. I prepared this in memory of John. Take care.
