Baked Brown Sugar Bananas

"Here is a little trivia: allspice comes from the pea-size berry of the evergreen pimento tree, native to Jamaica. It can be purchased whole or ground. The spice is so named because it tastes like a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves."

  1. This was OK. It was kind of like eating baby food. I had to add cinnamon to give it enough flavor for me. My oldest daughter liked it though.

  2. Made for dessert and topped with vanilla ice cream. Everyone enjoyed these. Made as directed. Made for Family Picks ZWT5.

  3. These are fabulous! Easy to throw together with stuff I usually have on hand! Love it! Had with some vanilla ice cream and chopped walnuts. Made for ZWT5.

  4. These bananas are delicioius. Thanks Luvcook :) Made for the Saucy Senoritas of ZWT5

  5. How will I not eat this every day?? ;-) I made this for ZWT5 Caribbean (and for the Caribbean Dessert challenge), and I absolutely loved the flavor. I used to make a similar recipe on the stovetop, but this is so much easier and cooks while you eat dinner. I always have these ingredients on hand, so this will be my new go-to dessert. Thanks for a keeper!!!

Tweaks

  1. These are delicious. They have a lovely contrast of sweet creamy banana and piquant spice from the allspice. I ran out of lemons without realizing it, so I subbed some citrus flavored rum for the lemon juice. I had mine with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top, but they were just as good all by themselves.

Yikes!! My daughter had fun in PaintShop Pro!! What she can do with a picture. My husband and I live in the "bush" and hour from the closest town. Life here is quiet, yet so much more busy than when we lived in the "city". We grow our own veggies, several kinds of berries, and grow lots of hard neck organic garlic. We have 60 chickens, 4 dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird. Quite the menagerie. I make all my own breads, and sell them (along with the eggs). I have a group of friends whom I make extra goodies for. http://www.quizmeme.com/poohpersonality/quiz.php <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/projects/200_PACpic.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/projects/pacbanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"> <img src="http://i425.photobucket.com/albums/pp340/northwestgal/redbannercopy.jpg" border="0" alt="New Kids Participation Banner"> <img src="http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e110/flower753/Food/soup_banner.jpg"> <img src=http://www.recipezaar.com/members/home/590105/hcabc.jpg> <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/KBparticipation.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Iwasadopted.jpg"> <img src="http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg271/MrsTeny/Permanent%20Collection/PACSpring09Participation.jpg"> <img src ="http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u208/diner_photos/lazymecookathon.jpg"> <img src="http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z205/jubespage/GGtiedyesmall.gif" > <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/participantbannerzwt5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket">
