Questions & Replies

  1. Do u cook or peel potatoes b4 putting in oven?

  2. Thanks for the recipe, but I have a couple questions: What, if anything do you do with the reserved bacon drippings? Also, do you remove the bacon from the skillet after cooking and then add it back to the skillet with the potatoes?

  3. Sorry, but I'm fairly new at cooking and was wondering how many ounces of potatoes to use in this recipe. 8 Cups seems inadequate as wouldn't it depend on the size of the slices and/or the thickness of the slices. Would someone please clarify how many ounces or pounds of potatoes to use and does it matter what type of potato to use. Thank You!

  4. Do you use white or cider vinegar?

  5. Will this freeze well?

Reviews

  1. This is almost exactly the same recipe that I heard on a radio program in Iowa years ago. I don't remember who called in this recipe, but it has been a favorite of our family ever since. I nearly lost my hand written recipe once, so I am so glad to find it here in case I ever misplace it again!

  2. Everything I have made by Kit cal has turned out excellent and this was the best German potato salad. I coupled it with another German recipe of Brussel sprouts, white beans, sausage, in a mustard cream sauce. I have made other German potato salads that have turned out dry, not this one, it was moist and delicious. If I were KitCal's neighbor I would be at her door every day at dinner time, scratching at the door. Meow!

  3. I have never had anything like this but was good with our Rueben sandwich.

  4. Made it tonight for friends and it was all gone.....successful and easy to make!

  5. Another of your great recipes! I took this dish to a Church Potluck tonight and it was delicious. I always thought German Potato Salad was a difficult and time-consuming ordeal; however, this recipe was really easy to make. Thanks!
