- 453.59 g dry penne pasta, prepared according to package directions
- 226.79 g lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 340.19 g can tomato paste
- 236.59 ml warm water
- 236.59 ml milk
- 78.78 ml dry red wine or 78.78 ml water
- 19.71 ml beef flavor instant bouillon
- 14.79 ml dried Italian herb seasoning
- 473.18 ml mozzarella cheese or 473.18 ml your favorite cheese
directions
- PREHEAT oven to 350°F.
- COMBINE beef, onion and garlic in large saucepan; cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 6 minutes or until beef is no longer pink. Drain. Stir in tomato paste, water, milk, wine, bouillon and Italian herb seasoning; cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 15 minutes or until flavors are blended.
- LAYER ingredients as follows in 13 x 9-inch baking dish: half of pasta, half of sauce and half of cheese. Repeat layers; cover.
- BAKE for 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through.

I made this recipe for dinner last night. Didn't change a thing. I used pinot noir wine. The flavor was really good. It only needs to bake 20 mins. DH said he would love to have it again. This would be a great company meal, served with french bread and cesar salad. Thanks for posting this recipe. I did substitute ground turkey for the beef.

Very good and easy to make - I added a little extra seasoning (some garlic salt, a little minced onion, etc) to give it just a bit more flavor. I also used more cheese because my husband likes things REALLY cheesy. I added a few heavy shakes of parm cheese to the sauce and also on top. I followed everything else exact. I took the cover off for the last 5 min and turned it to broil to brown the cheese. Very good!
