Baked Spaghetti

"Something different, but amazingly good! This is my aunt's recipe that I've modified. She adds sugar and doesn't add any spices, but I like to spice things up. This makes a lot - you'll have plenty for leftovers! Great for potlucks too. You don't need to add this much cheese, we just prefer it (yeah, I know; not very healthy)!"

  1. This was delicious! I used a can of recipe ready tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano, so I did not have to add the spices seperately. It is very, very good. A refreshing change from your ordinary baked spaghetti, the onions and bacon added lots of flavor. Thanks for a great recipe! This one is a definite keeper!!

  2. Very good, I think next time I will use some kind of sauce in it, not too much, but i waned a more saucey flavor. I subbed Boca ground "beef" for the bacon (and some olive oil for the fat in which to cook the garlic and onion)

  3. We had my parents over for dinner this evening, and made this. Everyone enjoyed it so much!! The only changes I made was to add chopped meatballs in place of bacon, added some mushrooms due to preference, and we used whole wheat spaghetti instead of regular. It was a great dish! Thank you so much!!

  4. Taste great!... and I made it more healthy! My husband loved the smokey taste of the bacon....he didn't notice I used extra lean turkey bacon..baked it in the oven until crispy. Other more healthy substitutions I used 1 cup each of fat free mozzarella and cheddar cheeses and mixed it with 1 cup each of 2% milk mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. After done baking I broiled it for 3-4 minutes to make the top nice a crunchy...will make again!

  5. Joy, this recipe was very good. As a long-time cook I had to tweek it to my family's tastes. I added chopped meatballs, some ground hamburger, and instead of using stewed tomatoes, I used flavored tomatoes with garlic, oregano, & basil and just left out the extra spices. It was enjoyed by all, especially my boyfriend, who had never had baked spaghetti before. Thanks for the recipe! I will be making it again in the future.

I'm a high school music teacher, turned elementary music teacher, who is also a mom. My evenings are busy -- I teach piano and voice lessons one evening a week, direct the youth choir at our church on another night, and sing with a professional chamber choir here in Pittsburgh on yet another night, so I'm always looking for quick-fix meals. I love to bake too, much to the delight of my daughters, but not my husband, who loves sweets, but is very health-conscious! It would be great to have a week of free time to make all the delicious recipes I find here on 'Zaar. Not sure who I'd find to help me eat them, but I'd do it anyway!
