Barbecued Spareribs

- 4 lbs country-style spareribs (I always use beef ribs for this one)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1⁄4 cup vinegar
- 1⁄4 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1⁄4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup catsup
- 1 cup water
directions
- Cut spareribs into serving pieces.
- Brown ribs on both sides in a skillet.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Remove from skillet and place in a 4 qt roasting pan.
- Combine pepper, chili powder, celery seed, 1 tsp salt, brown sugar, vinegar, hot sauce, and worcestershire sauce in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil.
- Cook for 5 min on low heat until well blended.
- Pour over ribs.
- Cover.
- Bake at 325* for 2 -2 1/2 hours or until tender.
- Remove cover.
- Increase temprature to 350*, bake until ribs are brown.
- Remove to a warm platter.
