I love Deer meat of anykind, but especially BBQ. I slow cooked mine stove top with a can of beer, 4 garlic cloves and a small quartered onion added to the liquid. It was SOOOO tender when it was done. I, too, add cider vinegar to my sauce, along with red pepper flakes, a dash of hot sauce and a tablespoon of molasses. I love the liquid smoke in your recipe!

This was delicious, but it is on the sweet side. However, I like foods on the sweet side, so it didn't bother me. I didn't have the liquid smoke, so added a little vinegar and some steak sauce I had on hand. Might be less sweet with the liquid smoke. I cooked the roast in the crockpot all day while I was at work, and came home, mixed up the sauce on the stove, then shredded the venison, added to the sauce, and mixed it all together till it was nice and hot. DH and DS's loved it!
