Barnwell School Chiliburgers

"This recipe came from the Barnwell Scool Cookbook. It's one of those great cookbooks from a small prairie town that I use EVERY day. It's so great! (Barnwell, Alberta) This recipe serves lots, and is great if you are have a big group of people to feed. My kids love them, as well as all the kids in our neighbourhood that visit often, and love to stay for dinner when this is in my oven!"

  1. Hello, all! I printed this recipe a good while back and finally got around to making it for my brother and I to eat as we watched some old cowboy movies on one recent afternoon. What a great recipe! This is very easy to make and it's pretty fast. These "burgers" look quite a bit like Sloppy Joes but they're very different. My brother usually rejects new dishes but he ate 4 of these burgers and took some home as well. We both put mustard on them which made them even better. The curry is clearly the secret ingredient -- it comes through as just a hint of great ambiance. I halved the recipe but next time I'm making a whole recipe, or I might even double it. Sassy Sandra, this one is a big winner and I want to thank you kindly for posting it. pat

I live in Northern Canada, and really love it here. I work full time, have two great kids; Robyn - aged 8 and Braeden - aged 5. I have a great Hubby who does most of the cooking during the week, as he is home much earlier than I. We love to entertain on the weekends, and often have large dinner parties. It's lots of fun, and we really like spending time with those we aren't able to see as often as we would like. The Hubby and I enjoy setting the menu, and then being up to our arm-pits in work!! Our guests always love coming to our house for good food, good friendship, and good wine. What else is there?.......
