Questions & Replies

  1. when I remove my finished loaf from the machine the paddles stay inside my bread --is this normal?

  2. This was my best bread I made in my bread machine, it came out perfect. I followed the instructions and I am happy.

  3. When I lived in BC Canada the bread would rise to the top of the bread maker and was a pain to clean. However, I moved to Alberta, BC and the bread rose to about 2/3 of the pan. Which is strange because I have always followed the recipe exactly as per the recipe in my black and decker recipe book that comes with the bread maker as written with the exception I used 1 tsp salt. In Alberta, I have tried 1 1/2 tsp of salt and get a better result but it is still inside the pan instead of overflowing a bit. I then changed the amount of sugar to 2 tbsp and the size was a bit over the edge but it sure made the bread taste better. I was wondering if I used 1 1/2 tsp of yeast if that would work or would it taste yeasty? I love my bread maker and I have used them 3-4 times a week and have worn out 3 of them. I use the maker for bread, buns, pizza dough and cinnamon buns.

  4. I just used this recipe twice today, making sure measurements were accurate, and both times the bread turned out so tough, that it was hard to chew and hard on the teeth. Does anyone know why?

  5. You've mentioned that I can use milk instead of powdered milk, but you also said how ill just replace the milk with water completely? So what would the measurements be for milk instead of powdered milk?

Reviews

  1. I was about to throw out my bread machine, then I tried this recipe and created a perfect loaf of white bread that my whole family loved. I have the Black & Decker B6000C, and every loaf I made (3 before this one), was either too high and stuck to the top, or got stuck on the sides/bottom and was mangled coming out of the machine. For this loaf I used the 2lb, light setting, added a 15 minute delay time (as instructed in the recipe), used a plastic bread knife around the edges after backing was complete, then jiggled the heck out of the bread pan to release the loaf and it came out perfectly. Yeah, I can finally make a great loaf of white bread. Thanks!

  3. Beautiful, soft, fine crumb. Made great sandwiches, Best eaten the day it is made. I increased sugar to 2 T.

  4. Thank you!! I have not used my bread maker in 5 yrs. After i pampered my family with warm baked bread daily, they ask recently, why i was not still doing this. I told them that during our move, that we lost a few things, and my cook books were one of the few. So after searching many many web sites....this one came up on google and it was my recipe for my bread maker! Now, our home will have that warm cozy smell of breads and other baked goods!! Thanks again~

  5. I've just finished taking out my second loaf of bread and I am still disappointed with the gnarly surface so will try to decrease the flour and increase the water as the instruction book suggests. I am satisfied with the inside texture. I appreciate all your reviews.

Tweaks

  1. My recipe uses less flour but says it’s 1 1/2 loaf. I’ve a Cooks model 780-2159 bread maker. Changes: - 2 tspn yeast not 1 - 1 1/2 loaf setting not 1 - 2 Tblsn Surgar not 1 - 1 tspn salt not 1 1/2 - 3 cups flour not 3 3/4 Not a fan of store bought white bread. This has more ‘tooth’ to it. Makes great sandwich bread & awesome toast.
