Basics: Cutting Corn from the Cob

"I have been gathering some basics on cooking, some tips that save time and the hassle or are just good for the beginning cook to know. (or me too! LOL) Please check out my Basics cookbook for other great tips gathered from near and far. This one makes it easy to cut the fresh corn from the cob for other recipes. And it freezes well too! I am putting an amount in the ingredients because Zaar is asking me to, but use however many you want. I also had to add another ingredient for this to post, but water is not used in this procedure. Sorry for any confusion."

directions

 • Cutting the kernels from long ears of corn can be tricky. That task is easier and safer by cutting the ear in half and standing the half ears on their cut surfaces, which are flat and stable. Not only is the corn more stable on the work surface, it is also easier to control the knife down the length of only half an ear. Use right away or freeze for later use.

Hello all, being from California, I can honestly say I am a foodie. You can walk by construction workers here and hear them saying things like, So I used some fresh garlic and olive oil, then threw the rest into the pan to sautee. LOL I love all kinds of food, and trying to eat healthier as I get older, but still indulge in the occasional deep-fried food or sweet.
I LOVE this site! I have 3 or 4 other food sites such as Epicurious and Food Network, but I always come back here! The ease and all of the features just can't be beat.
Thanks Zaar and I look forward to participating more.
