  1. This is the very same recipe I've used for years (from the Vancouver Sun). The only exception is that my recipe doesn't have the raspberry jam in it. It's excellent without it, but I'm going to make it with the jam next time as I think that would be a nice touch. So, it will be good with or without raspberry jam.

  2. Not only does this recipe look and taste wonderful, it smells just great when it comes out of the oven. I used a seedless raspberry jam and it was just wonderful. My kids attacked and it didn't survive the day.

  3. Made this yesterday, used Royal Gala apples, anmd light cream cheese. It was excellent. The raspberry jam added a wonderful exotic touch to the base. My family throughly enjoyed. This is a keeper.

  4. My family has been making this for years! I love the Fare for Friends cookbook and I can't find mine. Thanks for sharing this! I missed it. Good tip from my mom... refrigerating or even freezing the base in the pan before spreading the jam makes it easier. Apricot jam is nice too, and so is apple butter. I've also tried doubling the filling which makes it extra decadent, but you'll have to cook it longer.

  5. leaked all over oven. suggestyou use cookie sheet on pan also add turbo sugar and had to cook at leat 15 longer. got great reviews for church ladies.

I love to cook and so I am thrilled that I found recipezaar. I work as an educational assistant in a food school so I am around food all day long. I have four children, three of which have already flown the coop so to speak but I still have my 'baby' at home. (He's 21). I am lucky in that I have my summers off so I spend a lot of time trying new recipes and catching up on my reading. I also play soccer in a ladies league to stay in shape.
