  1. Hello. The nuts for the crust should be crushed, right?

  1. Darn...I wanted to put this recipe online, and you already have it here! This is such a great recipe! Everyone LOVES it when I make it. I made it for my mom's last birthday, and didn't even get a slice. My recipe is only slightly different. I bake it in a 9x9 pan, and have only 1/4 teaspoon vanilla in the bottom crust and only 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla in the filling. I cut the pears into thin slices (more than 8) and cover the top, then sprinkle a light layer of cinnamon over the entire tart. (I don't measure that.)

  2. this was very good...think next time i will double the filling and add way more pears

  3. GOURMET! Used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and would next time try to use a little less butter in crust, just to save on calories. Could of course use various fruits on top.

  1. If you want a bit different crust and easy in a pinch, Try the Pecan Shortbread Cookie Recipe for your crust. I've been making this recipe since 1980. I usually make it for a party of any kind but if you do make sure you're prepared to share the recipe with everyone!

I have been baking and cooking since I got married in 1969. I make all our own bread using my bread machine. I really enjoy this web site. I have four grown daughters and they all are good cooks too. I also love to quilt, sew, knit, crochet and garden. I have a BAA degree, (CMU 95) major in Journalism, minors in English and Sociology. My husband and I are retired. We spend the winters in our motor home, between my brother's house in Green Valley, AZ, and Port Aransas, Texas, on Mustang Island. You can find us parked on the beach every day! I love the Mexan food in Texas, and thanks to Javiar for teaching me his mother's recipes. I swear I will never warm a tortilla in the microwave.
