Bavarian Strawberry Pops

"Adapted from "The Once a Week Cooking Plan" by J. Hilton. You can make these with purchased popsicle molds or 8oz plastic cups and wooden sticks inserted into them. Cook time is freezing time"

  • Puree strawberries with sugar and water.
  • Prepare pudding, using 1 3/4 cups of cold milk, and beat until mixture begins to get thick.
  • Fold in berry mixture.
  • Pour into molds or cups and freeze.

Im really enjoying these for my afternoon snack :) I felt these were a bit icy as well, and would have liked them to be a bit creamier too, so I think I will adjust ingredients to allow for a creamier texture next time as well. I used banana pudding mix and fresh strawberries. This is a great recipe, and Im sure kids would really enjoy it! I made this in plastic cups, but found they didnt slip out... I think because of the the two ridges in the middle of the cup... so I had to eat these with a spoon out of the cup... but I still like them!
     
  3. My family really liked the strawberry flavor in these pops. The amount of sugar is just right. The recipe is very quick, easy, and accurate. I had a little trouble getting them out of the plastic molds (without melting them by soaking in hot water), so I will use the 8 oz plastic cups next time. The texture had a bit of ice crystal, and I had expected a creamier texture - I think next time I'll cut down the amount of water to 1/4 cup. Overall a very good recipe. Thanks for sharing Pamela.
