  • Render salt pork or bacon in a large stew-pot.
  • Add meat.
  • Cook over medium high until browned.
  • Remove meat.
  • Reduce heat to medium.
  • Add onions and cook until tender.
  • Return meat to pot.
  • Add seasonings, beer, water, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and cover.
  • Simmer until beef is tender, about 1 ½ hours.
  • Add vegetables, cover and simmer until done, about 45 minutes.
