  • In a large, heavy pot brown the meat with the salt, onions and garlic.
  • Onions boil down and the don't over power.
  • Drain off the fat and stir in the chili powder.
  • Add chilies, stewed tomato, tomato paste, bay leaves, oregano, vinegar, and brown sugar.
  • Cover the pot and cook for 2 hours over low heat. Stir frequently.
  • Add beans and cook uncovered another 30 minutes.
  • Serve with side dish of corn chips, shredded lettuce, and Shredded cheese.
  • Also diced onions and sour cream.
