Best Baked Beans

"The perfect addition to picnics and barbecues! Simple and delicious. Sure to become one of your favorites. My mother makes this for every family get together. Ham could be added, or more ketchup if desired, but try it this way first - you'll love it!"

  1. I've made this recipe numerous times -- it's certainly a winner! Like others have, I cut back on the brown sugar (I use one heaping tablespoon) and add a dash of prepared mustard and Worchester sauce. JUST RIGHT! I've discovered even those who claim to "hate baked beans" seem to like these. :) Thanks for sharing the recipe!

  2. i've made these twice in the past month and are just perfect w/ burgers and hot dogs on the grill. they are easy to make and everyone loves them-the last time i made them i topped them w/ french fried onions in the last 15 minutes of baking and they were delicious!

  3. I added green peppers and garlic and about one tbsp of Dijon mustard. I also cut back on the sugar. This got raves from everyone at a dinner party I attended.

  4. We enjoyed these great tasting beans.

  5. Simple and easy plus delicious is a winner in my book. I thought they tasted even better the second day, warmed up. Thanks.

Tweaks

  1. I Add 1/2 cup bourbon. The alcohol cooks out leaving the flavor.

  2. I cooked the bacon in a skillet instead of the microwave and I cooked the beans in the crockpot. I didn't get to taste any, but everyone seemed to like them.

  3. I have made baked beans like this for years. Sometimes I add a can of drained butter beans and some sliced hot dogs to it all. Also, when I am in a bit of a hurry or feeling kinda lazy, I use real bacon bits instead of cooking up some bacon. Try these, you'll love them!

  4. I needed a side dish for my bbq and this was the one that caught my eye. I love Famous Dave's wilbur beans and decided on this recipe. I chopped up 4 cooked sausage patties instead of the bacon, and added about 1 TBS dijon mustard and 1 TBS worshesteshire sauce, and cut the brown sugar way back to 1 TBS. These got rave reviews! Thanks for sharing!
