Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies Homemade

"You can either bag the mix for future use or go ahead and make the brownies. You can also use a high quality cocoa to improve the flavor. Customize it with chips, nuts or whatever you like. I found this on a blog for saving money. Making it yourself should save you about 80- 85%"

  2. Hi!! This is my most favorite recipe ever since I found it here. I have doubled the recipe and baked in a 9x13 but the brownies still come out on the thinner size?? Do you have any suggestions on how to bake it in a 9x13 but have them be thick brownies?? Thank you sooo much for this recipe

  3. Would this be just as good if I used special dark chocolate cocoa? Sorry for all the questions it's just that I have been looking for a "from scratch" recipe for a while now and this may be my go to one! thank you!

  1. Delicous and easy! My son loves them and we do too. I added chocolate chips

  2. - I have been making these brownies for two years now, the are so quick and easy. These are truly the most moist fudge brownies I have ever eaten. Best recipe out there

  3. I literally just made an account to review this recipe. It is so simple but better than any boxed brownies I have ever had. I let them cool, then made a chocolate buttercream and chulled them until the frosting hardened but the center was still hot. The most amazing brownies ice ever had. Made them 2 nights in a row!

  4. Absolutely loved the recipe! It was a small amount though so I'll double it next time. To those that had such a bad experience, no need to be rude. Recipes are never a "one size fits all". As you can see, others have tweaked or kept it the same if not doubled amount. So, if it didn't work then keep it as that.

  5. Made first batch by the instructions, gooey goodness! 2nd batch added my own twists and I'm in LOVE! In the time it took to preheat the oven, the batter was ready to go. My version: I added a splash of coffee, a dash of smoked paprika, walnuts, doubled the salt, and only used one egg (I like them dense and fudgy), and only baked them for 18 mins in a pie tin. Crisp edges, ooey gooey middles.

Tweaks

  1. If you want brownies that really taste like Betty Crocker box brownies, keep reading! This recipe was so NOT wonderful, at least not to me. I mixed up a double batch in desperate hopes that finally I could make brownies that really taste like the box. Once again, I was sorely disappointed, so much so I considered dumping the whole thing out. They tasted exactly like flour mixed with sugar and a little cocoa added in. After years of dreaming of making a homemade brownie like B.C. box brownies, I was back to the drawing board. I seriously considered that box is the only way to go. However, in an attempt to salvage my batter, I decided to do my own tweaking. Well, I think I finally found it! Finally! A recipe that really does taste like box brownies. Not only that, but they have the texture of fudgie box brownies, instead of the puffy cake I usually end up with! As I disappointedly tasted the bland flavorless batter, I considered what might make it have that peculiar box taste. Here's what I did. Someone, PLEASE try it to see how yours comes out and post your experience here! (9x13 - double batch) 2 C Sugar, 1 C Flour, 3/4 C Cocoa (up to 1 full cup cocoa, depending on preference), 1/2 Tsp Salt, 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder, 4 Eggs, 1 C Canola Oil, 1/4 Cup Butter (essential for that box flavor), 1/2 C Milk Chocolate Chips, 3 Tsp Vanilla, 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon (or slightly less - don't overdo), 1/8 Tsp Allspice (It is these spices that give it that box flavor!!! Trust me!) I had to bake this for about 40 min in my oven. Check the center with a knife after a half hour. Keep in mind that adding things like black beans or applesauce will NEVER make brownies that taste like the box. These are attempts to make a less guilt "healthier" brownie. Brownies are not a health food! Brownies are all about indulgence.

  2. Which type of cocoa would it be?

  3. Seriously followed the exact recipe and there's too much sugar its all up my throat its too sweet maybe a reduction will do

  4. OH: i subbed 4 TB butter for part of the oil and tossed in a handful of chocolate chips just 'cause, and used sea salt but nothing else different, measured exactly, etc.

  5. I made a double batch, used a 9x13, and baked it for ~27 minutes.
