Billy Zac's Four Inch Pan of White Basmati Rice

"Makes a four-inch pan of nice, fluffy white basmati rice. I have only tested it with white basmati rice, but I suspect it would work well with other types of white rice. I adapted this recipe from the book The Best Recipe."

  • Heat the oil/butter in a large, thick bottomed pot. Add the rice. Cook, stirring constantly for about 3 minutes. Sauteing the rice brings out the nutty aromatic flavors.
  • Add the water and salt. Swirl and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low. Cover tightly and cook until the water is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat. Let the rice stand, still covered, to finish cooking.
  • Transfer to a 4" pan and serve.
