"I found this recipe on a different site a few years ago and love how it makes plain black beans a little more special and a lot more tasty. It is so quick to make and is a great side for your Mexican dishes."

  • In a medium saucepan, combine beans, onion and garlic and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and add cilantro, cayenne, and salt.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes and serve.

  1. Great side dish - made to go with chili marinated steaks and brown rice. I substituted coriander for the fresh cilantro and served the beans with slices of avacado. I will be making these often - Thanks for the quick, tasty recipe.
     
  2. Very easy and very tasty. I didn't have cilantro (I rarely do), so I substituted 1 tsp. ground coriander. This is a nice side to a Mexican dish, I served these with Recipe #363238, and it was an amazing dinner. Thanks for posting this recipe. Made for Fall 2009 PAC.
