I made this recipe and used part chopped black wallets and part chopped walnuts plus added 1 T. of black walnut extract. I toasted the nuts for 8 min in 350 oven prior to adding. They were so very delish. Gave some for holiday gifts. Making more today. Possibly gave too many away!!! These will be my black walnut cookies recipe forever.

Love these cookies, but the recipe has some problems. It claims to yield 4 dozen brownies. It yields no brownies but I got about 100 cookies from it. There is no indication as to how thick to slice the rolled dough, so I guessed at about 1/2". That yielded 100 cookies, but I had to bake them 10-12 minutes, not 5. Fortunately, they came out great. I also added some black walnut extract.

This is one of the best cookie recipes I have ever tasted. I made them for my family as a "test batch" for Christmas cookies, and they were everything a cookie should be: smells great, are soft---but not cake-like, and are not too sweet. I used dark brown sugar, toasted the walnuts, and added about an 1/8 a tsp. of almond extract, just for kicks. If you are a cookie fiend, you have to try these out.
