  1. Combine flour, 2 cups sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Combine eggs, oil, orange juice, and vanilla, beat well.
  3. Add to flour mixture and mix well.
  4. In bowl toss apples slices with cinnamon and remaining 1/4 cup sugar.
  5. Spread a third of the batter into a greased 10 inch tube pan.
  6. Top with half the apples.
  7. Repeat layers.
  8. Carefully spread remaining batter over apples.
  9. Bake in a 350º oven for 55-65 minutes or until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.
  10. Cool in pan 15 minutes before removing from pan to finish cooling on wire rack.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar.
  12. 16 servings.
  13. I have made this cake, my recipe called it a German Apple Cake and it is great.
