Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter and flour 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
  3. Cut the cold butter for the topping into small cubes and put back in the refrigerator to keep cool.
  4. Sift the dry ingredients for the cake together.
  5. In a large bowl, mix together all the wet ingredients for the cake, except for the blueberries.
  6. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until incorporated (an electric mixer is NOT necessary, I used a wooden spoon).
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle the blueberries on top.
  8. Using your fingers crumble the topping ingredients in a small bowl. This will not combine completely, there should be small beads of butter throughout the dry ingredients. Break the butter up as small as possible.
  9. Sprinkle the topping over the top of the cake.
  10. Bake for about 50 minutes or until knife comes out clean. Cake should not be dry.
