  • Combine sugar,butter,egg and molasses.Sift in flours and soda.Add dry ingredients,alternate with milk.Add nuts and raisins.Mix well.Turn in a buttered bowl or mold that may set loosely in cooker.
  • Cover bowl with wax paper.Place bowl on rack with water on cooker.Place cover on cooker.Allow steam to flow from the vent pipe 20 minutes.Place indicator weight on vent pipe for 40 minutes with stem at 10 pounds, That is all the way up.Allow stem to return to DOWN position.

  1. After a cursory search on the interwebs for an instant pot Boston Brown Bread, this is the only close recipe that showed up. I also didn't have the selections of flour called for. I subbed 1 cup masa harina, 1 cup self rising flour and 1 cup of rice flour and it turned out fine. My experience is that you can use any flour you have on hand. The batter filled 2 1 pint mason jars, a 15 oz aluminum can and a little left over for a 1 cup mason jar. Sprayed a generous amount of oil in them. They all popped out after a few brisk taps on a cutting board. So good!
     
  2. So tickled to have found this recipe. I made it in 4H one year for a contest & won! I just bought an Instant Pot, and I want to see how it turns out with an IP. !
