Bread Machine Bread Bowls

"I've been finding that making bread bowls can be tricky because if you let them rise too long, they tend to flatten out. Try to stick to the timing as best you can. Use the 2lb. setting on your machine if you have the option."

directions

  • Place everything but the egg white in your bread machine in the order that your manufacturer recommends.
  • Use dough cycle.
  • When the cycle is complete, turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 6 equal portions and shape into balls.
  • Place the 6 balls onto a greased cookie sheet and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  • Brush with beaten egg white.
  • Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Once done, you can cut the top off and scoop out the center leaving about 1/4 inch on all sides.

  1. I went exactly by the recipe, but let the yeast proof first. The dough filled my little Sunbeam bread machine all the way to the observation window. I only needed three bowls, so that's what I made. the bread bowl had the perfect consistency for my chili, but the taste was a bit meh. Will add a bit of honey next time, but this first-time bread bowl maker calls it a win.

  2. These were easy and excellent. I made this into 4 bowls and cooked 40 minutes.

  3. These turned out beautifully for us. We also made four instead of six. I think they would be pretty small if you made six. Thanks!

  4. Dough was extremely sticky as it came out of machine. Horrible mess. Couldn’t work with it until I added quite a bit more flour.. did I do something wrong? Is it supposed to be that way?

  5. Wow!!! These are awesome!!
