Breadless French Toast

"I wanted something like french toast, but I didn't have any bread. This comes out a little crispy and doesn't bake up very high so if you like a more eggy flavor and want it to bake up higher use 2 eggs."

directions

  • pre-heat oven to 425.
  • Put butter into pan (I used an 11x8 pan for 2 servings) and put pan in oven until butter is melted, then remove.
  • Mix flour, baking and cinnamon together. Add milk and mix well.
  • Add egg (one at a time if you are using more than 1 egg) and then add sugar and mix well.
  • Add vanilla. Cut up a banana into what ever size pieces you would like (I did slices in half), fold banana pieces into mixture.
  • Pour mixture into pan and bake for 15-20 minutes depending on how many eggs you used.
  • I topped mine with powdered sugar.

  1. Had the consistency of more like a jelly pancake. Definitely needed syrup to make it have any taste, bc the cinnamon and sugar didn’t have much affect. Maybe I did it wrong but I followed the recipe correctly. It’s edible but wouldn’t have it again.

  2. Delicious! I vowed to stop eating bread but was craving french toast & this recipe hit the spot! Super easy to make! Has a very light feeling to it & will definitely be making again! I used an 8x8 pan instead of a larger pan because I thought it would spread too thin & I loved how it came out. I would recommend around the size I used. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

  3. Very quick breakfast treat. It is like a Dutch pancake. It served 4 here. I skipped the banana. Made for Spring 2012 PAC game.

  4. A nice breakfast that is kind of like a Dutch Pancake meets French Toast. I made as written using whole wheat flour, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and sugar as well as 2 eggs, skipped the banana option and used the powdered sugar suggested in step 7. We felt the powdered sugar is a must if not using banana as it is not overly sweet, also fallowed the suggest of baking 20 minutes for the use of 2 eggs but think will cut bake the bake time by just a couple of minutes (17-18 should be good). Really liked the cinnamon and butter flavor both of which shine very nicely. Thanks for the post.

  5. What a delightful recipe! I used 2 eggs and did not add the optional banana. This baked and rose like an oven pancake but the texture was more bread-like, really a lot like french toast. Loved all the cinnamon too. Served mine with syrup and really enjoyed - thanks for sharing a great recipe! Made for Spring Pick-A-Chef 2012
