Breakfast Apple Cobbler

"This recipe is adapted from Rival's website and calls for using the Crock-ette. It suggests adding cream, ice cream or whipped topping but for breakfast I prefer to add a little cream or low-fat milk over the top."

  1. I tripled the amount of granola and doubled everything else to serve 6. I used my old trusty 1970's crock pot with a crock pot liner to make clean up easy. Turned out perfectly! Served with milk and blueberries. So easy!

  2. I made this to serve 6 and when served with yoghurt it will make a healthy breakfast. I halved the sugar and the end result is good. Very versatile too which a big plus for me so next time I will use a combination of fruits as did one of the previous reviewers.

  3. I finally broke down and bought a new crockette, since I was fairly certain my 25 year-old version was going to burn down the house at some point. Anyway, it cooks at a much higher temperature, and this was completely burned and inedible after 7 hours. I used brown sugar and everything else as called for in the recipe. I know it's not the recipe, my old standby Steel Cut Oats for the Crockpot burned as well. I'd love to try this again, but am afraid the overnight part won't work for me anymore:(

  4. I did things slightly different, but I enjoyed this. I used three apples and about 1 cup of frozen blueberries. I used regular oats instead of granola and I added about 1/2 cup each raisins and dried cranberries. The taste was really good, the appearance not so much. But that could have been because the apples I used were getting old.

I came to this site in March of 2004. It was then called Recipezaar. This site was the first on-line site that I ever joined. I first popped in 2003 while searching for a Peach Cobbler Recipe. In March of 2004, DH was having shoulder surgery and I was looking for a Split Pea Soup. Once again I found myself on Zaar as it came to be called. Over the years I hung out and learned from some of the best home cooks in the country, I posted over 700 recipes on the site, reviewed over 3500 recipes and posted over 3000 food photos. Over the next 10 years the site made many changes and in 2010 it was sold to to Food Network and became Food.com. Until last year we played games, talked and shared with one another. As a result of the community and the relationships I built I got to meet some wonderful people from all over the country. I also have a great number of friends that I have never meet face to face. Some of us still hang out at various places across the net. Zaar was more than a cooking community. It was an internet community of friendship. Life is an adventure ever changing.
