“I was looking through broccoli salads to find one like the one that I always make. I couldn't find one. Mine has sliced black olives, walnuts, bacon and the dressing. We also like to blanch the broccoli it makes the broccoli a bit less crunchy but a beautiful green.”

  1. Fill a large pot about 2/3 full of water and bring to a boil. Add the broccoli and cook for about 1-2 minutes. Drain the broccoli and add cold water. When the broccoli has cooled drain again. Let the broccoli sit in the colander for a while until the broccoli has no more water in it.
  2. While the broccoli is draining cook the bacon until crisp. Crumble or chop it into 1/2 inch pieces. Break the walnuts into pieces or chop it if you would like.
  3. Put the broccoli into a bowl, add the bacon, walnuts and black olives. In a small bowl whisk together the mayo, sugar and vinegar. Pour this over the broccoli and stir. I like to do this shortly before serving because the bacon stay crisp so if I am taking it somewhere I take the dressing in a seperate bowl.
