  1. This recipe came up while playing Zaar-Roulette. Boy did I get lucky--These are just like the ones I had when I lived in Germany. They are simple to make & oh...sooo good!

  2. Oh YUM! Crispy outside, tender inside. I loved being able to do all the hard work in the bread machine. My dh thought these were great and they so reminded us of our trip to Germany. Serve with a good "saucy" dinner so you can use this bread to sopp it all up! These will be made a lot around here.

  3. Don't know what happened but when I checked on my brotchen after 15 minutes in the oven, smoke was pouring out of the oven and the smoke alarm went off! The floured cookie sheet was black. I'm going to try one more time and bake at 425 vs 450 and check after 10 minutes instead of 15. The bottoms were inedible but the top I tore off one was delicious so there may be hope for this one. ps My oven is right on for the temperature so that wasn't the problem. When I remade this recipe, I baked at 425 at 13 minutes and they came out perfect. The "adjusted" recipe is definitely a keeper!

  4. I love fixing recipes from people who know their stuff and you definitely know your stuff! Thanks for this recipe! I had never had them before, but I made them to go along with some currywurst that I had made and they went together really well! Thanks again for putting your recipes on here. I want to try your Phyllo dough recipe, but I haven't gotten the courage up for that one yet:) I am sure that I will some day though...
