Brownie Angel Pie

"If you like brownies, you'll love this pie!! I found this recipe in a "Company's Coming" cookbook. My family doesn't have a big sweet tooth, and this pie was just the right bit of sweetness. It has a nice, light chocolatey flavour."

  • For the meringue crust, beat egg whites, salt and cream of tartar until a it forms a stiff froth. Add the sugar gradually, until the mixture is very stiff and the sugar is dissolved.
  • Fold in wafer crumbs, pecans and vanilla. Spread in a greased 9 inch pie plate pressing the mixture up the sides slightly to form a shell. Bake in 325F oven about 35 minutes until dry. Cool.
  • To make the filling you beat the whipping cream, cocoa, sugar and vanilla in a small bowl until stiff. Spread over pie.
  • For a garnish sprinkle with grated chocolate.
