- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3⁄4 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flaked coconut
- 1 cup hot water
- 1⁄2 cup chocolate syrup
directions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- In medium bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
- Add milk, butter and vanilla; mix well until smooth.
- Stir in coconut.
- Spread batter into greased 8-inch square baking dish.
- In 2-cup glass measure combine hot water, and chocolate syrup.
- Pour evenly over batter.
- Bake for 32 to 38 minutes or until center is set and edges pull away from sides of pan.
- Serve warm.

I found the flavor to rich and chocolatey and the coconut was a great touch. I served it warm with vanilla ice cream. This would have been a 5 star recipe but for the fact that the brownie or cake portion was a bit on the dry side. I will make this again but I think that I will play with it to see if I can make it a bit more moist.
