  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In medium bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  • Add milk, butter and vanilla; mix well until smooth.
  • Stir in coconut.
  • Spread batter into greased 8-inch square baking dish.
  • In 2-cup glass measure combine hot water, and chocolate syrup.
  • Pour evenly over batter.
  • Bake for 32 to 38 minutes or until center is set and edges pull away from sides of pan.
  • Serve warm.

  1. I found the flavor to rich and chocolatey and the coconut was a great touch. I served it warm with vanilla ice cream. This would have been a 5 star recipe but for the fact that the brownie or cake portion was a bit on the dry side. I will make this again but I think that I will play with it to see if I can make it a bit more moist.
