  1. Grease a 8x8x2-inch baking pan; set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl stir together the flour, granulated sugar, 2 tbls cocoa powder, the baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla.
  4. Stir in the walnuts.
  5. Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
  6. In a small bowl stir together the brown sugar and the 1/4 cup cocoa powder;
  7. Stir in the boiling water.
  8. Slowly pour water mixture over batter.
  9. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.
  10. Cool on a wire rack for 45 to 60 minutes.
  11. Serve warm.
  12. Spoon cake into dessert bowls; spoon sauce over cake.
  13. If desired, serve with vanilla ice cream.
