Butter

"From recipegoldmine.Place bowl and blade of a food processor into the freezer for 4 to 5 hours.Preparation time=freezing time and cooking time=processing time. The heavy cream is the only ingredient needed, but since Zaar needs at least two ingredients I added salt.Don't use it if you want unsalted butter."

  • Turn on the food processor, and pour the cream through the feed tube. Process for about 10 minutes, until butter has hardened around the blade, leaving the liquid that has separated from the cream in the bottom of the bowl.
  • Transfer the butter to a sieve and shake 2 or 3 times over the sink to allow any excess liquid to drain.
  • Put the butter in a bowl, cover, and chill for at least 1 hour before using.
  • Store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

  1. I swear I already reviewed this, but alas, I hadn't. Either way, I have been using this recipe for a while now, and love it incredibly. I also used my KA, and this worked out perfect, diner really went the extra mile working with the buttermilk and making sure it was rinsed. This is an absolute great recipe, easy to follow, and perfect to devour. This is the one recipe I depend on. Now....where's that fresh bread? Thanks little! Hugs from the farm.

  2. I'm so proud of myself; I made butter! :-) My food processor was in service, doing something else, so I was happy to see diner's review, using her KA. My bowl and balloon whip was in the freezer already! I did have a bit of trouble, draining off the liquid. I ended up gathering together the coffee filter around the little pieces and just squeezing, rinsing and squeezing several times. Seems like the butter would become stuck in the cheesecloth, but I didn't try that way. I also added sea salt, as we use salted butter here. I will keep this in mind when I am making something that calls for unsalted butter; I usually have cream, so I wouldn't need to run out for unsalted butter! AWESOME! Thanks for sharing, littlemafia!

  3. Wow how cool!!! I never knew how to make butter and it is so easy with todays appliances. I used my KitchenAid with the whipping attachment. Since I wasn't sure if it would work with the KA, I went and looked on line and found several videos of people/chefs demonstrating how to make butter with the KA. They also specified that you should rinse out all the buttermilk with cold water several times from the butter, as if it still has buttermilk in it, it will go rancid. So I did do that also when making this butter. I did add sea salt as I am using it with homemade bread tonight. This was so fun to make and watch it change. Thanks for sharing such a great and fun recipe. Made for Holiday Tag.

I come from the land of Dracula and I have two little daughters; they're three years apart.I travelled a lot and I lived in Hungary,Croatia,Canada,Thailand,Japan and Iran(DH is from here). I've seen a lot of wonderful places, the travel bug is still in me but waiting for DDs to grow a little so we can go together. Lots of wonderful memories and hoping to add some more, but my travelling style has to be adjusted now.No more backpacking! I feel old, suddenly. My girls are everything for me and I'm lucky that I'm able to be at home with them.My life really changed since having them. I like eating healthy,DH works out a lot and taught me about the right foods.Right now I'm trying to lose a few kg,but I'm happy if I lose one kg/month. Never needed a drastic diet,I drink a lot of water and luckylly there's no McDonalds here(yet) to eat junk food. I prefer homemade cooking to restaurants, these days we can make a better tasting meal at home. I like knowing what goes in my food and what hands are cooking it. I always look at a chef's hands and believe me I've seen dirty fingers too! I came to the Zaar to look for a pancake recipe and now my refrigerator is full with jars of homemade stuff. I made a lot of friends and I enjoy playing in the tag games since receiving a premium membership gift from Sydney Mike. Thank you, Syd. I want to thank everyone who makes my recipes and takes the time to take photos. Sometimes I loose track and I can't get back to thank each person making a recipe. I don't mind if someone doesn't stick to the recipe, everyone's taste and needs are different, sometimes ingredients are hard to find and I know this better than most. Please feel free to experiment and hope we'll learn something new from your feedback. <a href="http://www3.clustrmaps.com/counter/maps.php?url=http://recipezaar.com/member/678366" id="clustrMapsLink"><img src="http://www3.clustrmaps.com/counter/index2.php?url=http://recipezaar.com/member/678366" style="border:0px;" alt="Locations of visitors to this page" title="Locations of visitors to this page" id="clustrMapsImg" onerror="this.onerror=null; this.src='http://www2.clustrmaps.com/images/clustrmaps-back-soon.jpg'; document.getElementById('clustrMapsLink').href='http://www2.clustrmaps.com';" /> </a> These are the tag games that I took part in: <img src= "http://i610.photobucket.com/albums/tt181/alligirl65/thesnowmorning-3-1-1.jpg"> <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/holidaybadge.gif" border="0" alt="Photobucket"X><img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Recipezaar%20Album/iplaytagin.jpg"> <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Banners/holidayprmr.jpg"> <img src="http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z230/Lainey6605/gimme-5-sm1.jpg" border="0" alt="Gimme 5 personal banner"> <img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/Animation6.gif"><img src="http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j166/ZaarNicksMom/PACsticker-Adopted.jpg"> <img src="http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r317/j_welcome/pics2/food/PRMRcopy.jpg"><img src="http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a254/Sharon123/Copyoftag300-banner.jpg" border="0" alt="Susie's Banner for Newest Zaar Tag"> <img src=http://i335.photobucket.com/albums/m445/mliss29/vegn%20swap/vegnswap.jpg> <img src="http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b2/kiwidutch/my3chefs2009final-1.jpg"> <img src="http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81/HokiesLady65/Banners/ST_AMBADGE.jpg"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/Permanent%20Banners/snow-queens-sm.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/pt-shutterbug-banner-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a132/tgifford/Game%20Room%20Banners/AM%20Banners/ZaarStar-AMBanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/picKIsYtv-1.jpg"> <img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r271/copperhorse58/ThymeSticker.jpg"><img src="http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r271/copperhorse58/Herb1BaySTKR.jpg"> <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/Permanent%20Banners/pot-luck-sm.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/annacia/Permanent%20Banners/Masked-reveller-at-Carniv-0.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <img src=http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b367/chefpaulag/vegetabel_soup_banner-1-1.jpg?t=1263826088> <img src="http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c105/jewelies/pic607Ocg-2.jpg"> <img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/TeaSuppers-STKR.jpg"> <img src="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b280/carolinamoon21/Ingredients/BANNERS/PhotoswapSTKR.jpg">
