Butter Flavored Brickle Drizzles

"A semi-soft cookie that is rich and addictive. I requested this recipe from a work mate after she brought them to work. I hoped there was leftovers that day but it wasn't to be. I'm not sure where she got it from. There are no eggs but uses sweetened condensed milk."

directions

 • milk and vanilla, mix well. Combine flour, salt and soda. Stir into creamed mixture, stir in oats.
 • Shape dough into balls (approx. 2 T). Press tops into Brickle Chips (flatten as you do so, use bottom of a glass if you wish). Place brickle side up on baking sheet. Bake at 350* for 7-10 minutes.
 • Remove from sheet and cool completely.
 • When all cookies are baked, place chocolate chips in a microwave safe ziplock type bag. Microwave med-hi for 1 minute. Knead chips in bag, cut small tip off of corner of bag and drizzle chocolate over cookies. A nice pattern makes them look professional. Eat and enjoy.

 1. So very good! My kids were eating them faster than I could make them.

 2. This might be one of the best cookies I've ever tasted. I was making them from the recipe in Crisco Cookies and Pies and was having some trouble because the dough seemed too sticky, and they came out of the oven REALLY, really soft - so soft that they fell through the cookie sheet. I searched for it online just to compare, and found this. They're identical except the other recipe calls for 3 cups of oats and this one calls for 3 1/2. So I threw in some more oats, which sort-of fixed the sticky dough problem, BUT I also figured out that it works (for me at least) to let them cool for a few minutes on the cookie sheet before moving them to the cooling rack. So try that if you get discouraged. Hang in there, though - these cookies are worth it! And they're worth the calories, too!

 3. These cookies are great! I found the recipe in a "Favorite Brand Name Recipes-Festive Holiday Cookies" booklet at my grocery store check-out back in 1993! I've made these for cookie exchanges and they're always a big hit. I couldn't locate the booklet, but found this recipe, which for some reason left out the first few steps, and is slightly different. All the ingredients are the same, but the directions are as follows: Preheat oven to 350. Grease cookie sheet with Butter Flavor Crisco. For cookies, combine 1 cup butter flavor Crisco, granulated sugar and brown sugar in a large bowl. Stir with spoon until well blended and creamy. Stir in condensed milk and vanilla, mix well. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Stir into creamed mixture. Stir in oats. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Press tops into brickle chips. Place brickle side up, 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 9 - 10 minutes or until set but not browned. Remove to cooling rack. Cool completely. For Drizzle: Place Chocolate Chips in heavy reusable sandwich bag. Seal. Microwave at 50% (medium) kneading bag after 1 minute. Repeat until smooth (or melt by placing in bowl of hot water). Cut tiny tip off bottom corner of bag. Squeeze out and drizzle over cookies. This makes about 6 dozen cookies.

So good! Sailin' Babe, I hope you don't get too upset that I posted the recipe I had. It's just the other reviewer seemed underwhelmed, and I think these are great cookies! Keep on Sailin' and Bakin!

 4. It was an ok cookie for me. I actually liked the batter better than the finished product! They went together easily and baked up beautifully, but i thought they would have more of a brickle taste. I also am not sure whether i liked them better with the chocolate drizzle. I don't think it added too much to it flavor wise.
