  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a bowl sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  • In a seperate bowl cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. When eggs are combined add buttermilk, vanilla and orange extract.
  • Slowly combine flour mixture and buttermilk mixture until combined. Pour into a bundt pan and bake for 60 minutes or until done all the way through.

  1. This is now my husband's favourite cake. It needed nothing extra; it was incredible on its own. I did grease my bundt pan before pouring in the batter and still had trouble unmoulding, so next time I think I'll try greasing and flouring.
     
  2. Very good cake. I made it with Dr. Oetkers Butter Vanilla flavour (bought at a German Deli). Nice moist cake! A hit with my hubby and son!
     
  3. Yum, made this with almond extract and served it with strawberries and whipped cream at our July 4th barbeque.I loved it and can't wait to make it again and try different extracts. Thank you Lacy for a great recipe.
     
  4. This is wonderful and rich. I didn't have orange extract,I used butter nut extract from Watkins and it was great. I would assume any extract you like would work. Thanks!
