  • preheat oven to 450*.
  • heat oil in 8" cast iron skillet for 5 minutes.
  • combine dry ingredients.
  • stir together buttermilk and egg.
  • add buttermilk mixture and hot oil from skillet to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
  • pour into hot skillet.
  • bake 20 minutes.
