Directions

  1. Blend oil and sugar.
  2. Stir in the egg.
  3. Add dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt).
  4. Mix in the vanilla, dates and the optional nuts.
  5. Spread into a greased 8" square pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes-- do not over-cook, they will be quite soft still Cut while warm.
