- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 1⁄4 cups flour
- 2 cups oats
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar or 1/2 cup powdered sugar
directions
- Mix brown sugar, butter, shortening, vanilla and eggs.
- Stir in remaining ingredients except sugar.
- Shape dough into 1" balls; roll in sugar.
- Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes on greased cookie sheets.

These are a softer type of cookie, which I like. The first two cookie sheets I rolled out as called for. They kept a very nice round shape when they came out of the oven. If you roll they you may want to chill the dough for a short time. After the first 2 sheets I dropped the rest by spoonfuls, using the back of the spoons to somewhat shape them on the cookie sheet. Made for the *Recipe Swap 14* game 2008 in the Aussie/NZ forum. Our group was *The Kumara Kids* Group 28
