- 8 ounces flour
- 6 ounces brown sugar, moist
- 4 ounces butter
- 1⁄4 pint milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons caraway seeds
- 1⁄2 lemon, rind of
- 1 pinch nutmeg
directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder, mix in the other dry ingredients.
- Rub in the butter, then work in the beaten egg and milk.
- Bake in greased tin lined with greased paper at 350 F for 1 hour.
