Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 lb raw peanuts, in shells
  • 1 (3 ounce) packagezatarain's crab boil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons cajun seasoning
  • 12 cup red pepper flakes, if desired
  • 12 cup chopped jalapeno pepper, if desired

Directions

  1. Place peanuts, crab boil, jalapenos, garlic powder, salt, Cajun seasoning, and jalapeno peppers and red pepper flakes into a slow cooker.
  2. Pour in water to cover the peanuts and stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on low until peanuts are soft, at least 24 hours. Stir occasionally, and add water as needed to keep peanuts covered.
  4. Drain; serve hot or cold.
  5. Note: can be kept in slow cooker on the warm setting. You may want to cook these for longer (up to 36 hours) depending on personal taste. Can be refrigerated for at least 3 days and even 1 week.
  6. recipe for cajun seasoning: 1 tablespoon salt 1-1/4 teaspoons dried oregano 1-1/4 teaspoons paprika 1-1/4 teaspoons cayenne pepper 1-1/4 teaspoons ground black pepper.
