Candy Apple Pie

"Now for something a little different...I hope you enjoy this lovely recipe as much as we do. You can use any type of apple that you like, but we prefer the tart ones with this dish. Real comfort food for the soul."

  1. This is a unique and special apple pie. I made it for Christmas dessert and it received rave reviews from everyone at the table. Granny Smith's worked beautifully and I loved the lime in it, the golden raisins didn't go amiss either. Even my super picky DH had kudos for this great dessert. Thanks Kato for a recipe that had everyone smiling and happy.

  2. This was my first time making an apple pie. Very easy & tasty! I did add 1/4 tsp of allspice to the mix. Made for 123 Hits Tag

  3. This is an outstanding pie! I used granny smith apples and the topping for this is so delicious. This will be one that I make often and definitely for the holidays.

  4. I really enjoyed this apple pie! It's been a long time since I made one. I used regular raisins, and cooked the pie in a tart pan. Delicious! Thank you!

  5. My husband LOVES, and I mean LOVES pies. I often have to make 2 so he can have his own. I only made one of these. We all loved this pie, we have only had 1 Apple Pie that's better than this one, yet not by much. He loved the topping. I did put whole pecans in it since I was tired and didn't care by that point. He loved them whole, better than the smaller pieces he said. This was super easy to make, now that I own an Apple corer I am sure this will be made again. I used a mandolin to slice the apples and he loved the thin slices vs chunks of Apple's. This will be made again definitely!!
