ingredients

1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling, divided
1 10 inch graham cracker crust
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
¹⁄₂ cup sugar
¹⁄₄ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
¹⁄₄ cup caramel topping
12 pecan halves, plus
2 tablespoons chopped pecans

directions

Preheat oven to 350º.
Reserve 3/4 cup apple pie filling.
Spoon remaining filling into pie crust.
Beat together cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth.
Add eggs and mix well.
Pour over apple filling.
Bake 35 minutes or until center is set.
Cool to room temperature.
Mix reserved apple filling and caramel topping in a small saucepan.
Heat, about 1 minute.
Arrange apple slices around outside edge of cheesecake.
Spoon caramel sauce onto the cheesecake and spread evenly.
Decorate with pecan halves around edge.
Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Just curious. I have many qts of Peach pie filling. No apple. I think I will try this instead. And as some suggested add more flavoring to the cream cheese filling. I think maybe butterscotch topping instead of Carmel. Anyway thank you for this recipe and i will see what transpires.

This is an amazing treat. I saw paula dean make this about three or four years ago and new I had to try it. I have been making it every years since!

This was a really good dessert for us....It's almost exactly like a recipe I found in a Paula Deen cookbook. I found I had to bake the pie for about 45 minutes to get the middle to set, but that may just be my oven. Step #11 confused me but then I realized you meant to arrange the canned apple pie slices around the pie...duh! Anyway, great pie Tearanii, my family enjoyed!
