1. These brownies were great! I didn't have enough brown sugar so I just used regular sugar for the part I was missing. I added a Tbsp. of maple syrup to give it a little more of the brown sugar flavor. I made a great sauce that went with it perfectly.

Caramel Cream Sauce
Combine 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 warm water in a heavy bottom saucepan with high sides. Stir mixture to slightly dissolve the sugar. Boil the mixture over a medium high heat until the water evaporates and the sugar begins to melt. Reduce the heat and, stirring constantly, continue to cook until the sugar is completely melted and it is a dark amber color. The whole process takes about 15 minutes.

Remove the melted sugar from the heat and add about 1/3 to 1 cup (depending on how liquid you want it) heavy whipping cream gradually, whisking constantly. The cream will foam up quite a bit, which is why you want to use a pan with high sides. The sugar may clump, but keep whisking and it will melt. Whisk in a couple Tbsp. of butter. Add the vanilla and whisk again. Set aside to cool slightly.

 3. Wasn't in the mood for chocolate brownies so went in search of a butterscotch or caramel brownie recipe. There were quite a few to pick from but yours is the one I chose and I am so glad I did. What an absolutely delicious, chewy texture this brownie has!! Am certain once hubby discovers them they won't last long. Definitely a keeper and will be made often in this household. Thanks Heather for sharing.
