  1. Combine all ingredients except broccoli, milk, cornstarch, cheese, salt and pepper in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, adding broccoli during last 30 minutes.
  2. Turn heat to high and cook 10 minutes, stirring in the combined milk and cornstarch, 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add cheese, stirring until melted, 2-3 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
