I made this today, with a lot of changes. First, I used "healthy" request soups (lower in fat and sodium) and also 1/3 less fat cream cheese. I also used 2% cheese and a lot less than the recipe called for. Because the recipe seemed kind of blah, I added chopped frozen broccoli and a good handful of Mrs. Dash garlic and herb blend. Because my bag of hash browns was 30 oz, I also needed more liquid, so I added a can of evaporated milk and when that still seemed dry, stirred in some skim milk from the fridge. I baked a pan of this right away and put the rest in bags to freeze as suggested. Baked straight off with the changes I made, it was very tasty. Serious comfort food! However, even with the healthier soup and the extra veggies, it still seemed kind of salty to me and I added no additional salt. Something to consider if you're on a low-sodium diet. All in all, this was a great base recipe to build on.
