directions

  • Place yeast, flour, salt, sugar, oil, water and jalapeños in bread machine according to manufacturer's directions.
  • Toward end of mixing during final proofing cycle, add cheese. (This method yields bread with cheese pieces throughout. If cheese is added earlier, it blends completely into the bread.)
  • Process on regular cycle.

  1. I elected to make buns and baked at 350 on a greased and cornmeal sprinkled pan. They turned out so lovely! Light & fluffy and with a definite hint of jalapeno and cheese. I'll be making them again. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

  2. I made 8 *big* beautiful buns with this and could easily have gotten 10 but didn't want to use another baking sheet for two buns (talk about lazy!). I had to use the jarred jalapeno's but I don't think that hurt the flavor as the cheese and pepper came through very well. They are very light and fluffy even with all of that cheese. Excellent recipe. :D

  3. I didn't read carefully the directions and I put the cheese with all the ingredients. And then I read to put it at the end LOL It was too late to remove the cheese LOL I used 1 large jalapeno pepper. The bread is spicy but not too much. I baked it in the oven at 350 F for at least 35 minutes. I'll have to do it again and add the cheese at the end. I want to see chunks of cheese ;) Thanks Sarah :) Made for PRMR tag game

  4. Love it! I used the ABM for the mixing, but then baked it in an 8x4 pan in the oven. I'd definately recommend 9x5" next time, and be sure the pan is sprayed well... mine didn't want to leave the pan, which is why it looks a little short in the picture. Like other reviewers, I would have liked it to be a little more spicy. Next time I make it, I think I'll just chop the jalapeno peppers into rings, not chopped fine, and put them in at the end, with the cheese. Perhaps leaving the seeds in would be enough to spice it up! Because I added the cheese at the end, per other reviewer's suggestions, I got the visual of cheese, and wonderful flavour, too. I will admit to using 1 cup of cheese. :) Great recipe, thanks so much for sharing! Made or Veggie Swap 22.

  5. Used the ABM throughout the whole process, and didn't have any problems with the dough. I added more jalapenos (per Wicked Cook 46's suggestion) and still thought that it could have used a bit more heat (although the kids were making sucking noises and asking for milk, so maybe I've just burnt my taste buds out). I had to leave the house, so the cheese had to go in at the beginning of the cycle, which I think I would not do again. The flavor of cheese was there, but I'd like the texture as well. We will definitely be making this one again. Thanks!
