  1. What a delicious recipe! I could not find the dried glazed cherries at my local Kroger, so substituted two cups of maraschino cherries (without the liquid). It turned the batter a lovely pink. I frosted it with recipe #122632 and it was the best cake I have ever made. Highly recommend!

  2. This is more like muffins than cake. Makes a very thick batter and a really heavy cake. I assume that the "almonds" ingredient is meant to be almond extract, but even with all three extracts, it's pretty bland.

  3. Delicious and easy to make!! I used some frozen sour pie cherries that I had in the freezer and I frosted it with a buttercream icing. It is now a household favorite!

  4. Dorothy, I love this cake. Easy to make and very moist. Thanks for posting the recipe.

  5. Thanks Dot for posting this wonderful recipe. It was so tender and tasty that I could have eaten it all by myself. I halfed the recipe very easily and it still made a substantial size cake. This is a keeper for my personal cookbook.

I'm a farm girl from Ontario, now living in Newfoundland for 27 years and love it. Lots of fresh air and a beautiful view of the water. Space to enjoy all my flower beds, and friendly people. I love to cook and feed people well, with all my added Newfoundland recipies its no problem. My favorite cook books are a set of Betty Crocker books, 20 in all, which I have had for at least 35 years.
