  1. Melt butter and mix in sugar.
  2. Let mixture cool and add eggs.
  3. Mix it thoroughly and then add baking powder, baking soda, salt, vanilla, and cocoa, stirring after each addition.
  4. Add flour and mix well.
  5. Dough will be stiff and crumbly.
  6. Drain cherries and save the juice.
  7. On greased cookie sheet, pat dough into walnut size balls with fingers.
  8. Place an indentation with finger or with end of spoon.
  9. Place a cherry in each indentation.
  10. Place a saucepan over boiling water and combine chocolate chips and milk.
  11. Add 1/8 cup of cherry juice and stir.
  12. If the sauce does not glob off the spoon it is too thick and add more juice.
  13. Spoon on top of cherries.
  14. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
