  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 deg C).
  • In a medium bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Cut butter into mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Sprinkle one half of crumb mixture in the bottom of a 9 inch square baking dish.
  • Cover with cherry pie filling.
  • Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over pie filling.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until topping is golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

  1. A great easy way to make breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed this "new" breakfast dish. I didnt have the cherry filling, so I actually went to the store the night before so I could make it exactly as the recipe called for. You are right about using different fillings, and I may do that the next time,.....but I really enjoyed the cherry. Thanks for sharing.
     
  2. This was very good. Just like a cherry crisp but with extra on the bottom. And since the "crisp" part is my favorite, I like this very much. It was very good topped with vanilla ice cream. I thought the bottom would be crumbly and I would have to spoon it out but it actually kept its shape and I was able to cut it into a bar form. Thanks for this recipe.
     
  3. This is a wonderful dish. I made it using the cherry pie filling but any flavor could be used. I agree with your DH, this is good anytime, not just for breakfast.
     
  4. This was very good. I doubled it and used Apple Pie filling and we loved it. I will be making this again once I have a over that works right.
     
  5. I made this for my mom's birthday this past week. Very simple recipe, but I did add a half a teaspoon of french vanilla extract to the crumble mix for extra flavor. It came out very nicely, and got good reviews from the family :)

Tweaks

  1. This was so easy and yummy! It fulfilled my craving for cherry pie without all the work of piecrust. The second time I made it I used whole wheat flour instead of white and reduced the butter as suggested by Wasyetz. It was just as good w/ less calories!

Me and my boyfriend have been together for 11 years now. We live on 40 acres and have 6 dogs and 4 Tennessee Walkers. We both work a lot of hours so there is never enough time in a day to get everything done. I absolutely love the outdoors. I also enjoy lifting weights, reading and playing with all of my beautiful animals. I absolutely love, love and love to cook. I like to cook a variety of things and also like love to bake. I like to just get in the kitchen and experiment with different things. If something does not turn out for me such as pie crust or gravy I will keep trying until I can make it work. Only problem is, when I finally make it work it may not work again the time after that. It is fun though and I do consider myself a pretty good cook for the most part. I also love slow cooker recipes. Those are my most favorite in the winter months.
