Cherry Pretzel Dessert

  • In a large bowl, combine pretzels, sugar and margarine.
  • Set aside 1/2 cup for the topping.
  • Press the remaining mixture into an ungreased 13x9 pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat whipped topping mix, milk, and vanilla at high speed for about 4 minutes or until soft peaks form.
  • Add cream cheese and confectioners sugar and beat until smooth.
  • Spread half of the mixture over the crust.
  • Top with cherry pie filling and the remaining cream cheese mixture.
  • Sprinkle with the reserved pretzel mixture.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  2. Hey there, this was a wonderful dessert. I made it for a baby shower and it was a big hit. Very creamy cheesecake-like filling with the delicious cherries. Merlot is right. The salty crust goes well with the sweet creamy filling. Looked beautiful too. Thanks a bunch.
     
  3. Made this for potluck @ work and still get asked for the recipe. Changed 2 things- I NEVER use margarine (unsalted butter instead), and added just a dash of almond extract to the cherries (I used dark cherries because that's what I had). A hit! Thanks for the memories...

  2. great recipe! A creamy cherry cheesecake type dessert(and so easy!)I did use real butter instead of margarine, and I tinted the cream cheese filling green (for Christmas) and sprinkled red and green colored sugar on the top.
